I have had diabetes for approximately 20 years. For 16 years I took pills for
my diabetes and then I went on insulin. In September 2008, I went to a
new doctor, an endocrinologist. She changed my insulin from 2 shots a day
to 4 shots a day. She also sent me to Diabetes Management Center for
three sessions.
I learned how to eat properly and to read all labels. I was also taught about
the importance of exercise. I started walking 1-1/2 miles 5-7 days a week.
For the month of September, I was a prisoner in my own home. I was held
there by low blood sugar. After eating breakfast and taking my walk, I had
to stay inside because my sugar would drop too low. By eating right and
adjusting my insulin, I lost 8 pounds the first month.
After going back to the doctor in October, my insulin and food intake was
adjusted. I stopped having so many lows. In November, I went up for
prayer on Sunday morning to Kim and Paula Larson. I told them I had low
blood sugar and I needed a breakthrough. What I remember was Kim
anointing me with oil and started praying in tongues. I was slain in the Spirit
and I don’t remember anything else. Finally, Brenda came up to check on
me. She helped my back to a seat.
When I went back to the doctor in December, I had lost another 19 pounds
for a total of 27. She was very pleased with my progress. My A1C went
from an 8.4 in September to 6.0 in December. This is exactly where it was
supposed to be. The A1C is a test that measures blood sugar for three
months. She told me she wished all her patients did this well. My insulin
intake has dropped 60%. With exercise and diet, I have lost 60 pounds
since December 2007.
I had to do my part, but it was God touching me that gave me the
breakthrough. I am believing that God will totally heal me.
